Looking at the wear on your
running or sports shoes can be helpful if you have a knowledgeable salesperson.
He or she can evaluate the wear patterns to help you get a better fit as well as
a style that will help the stresses you place on your shoes.
Here are some basic wear
patterns and what they indicate according to the American Orthopedic Foot and
Ankle Society.

your shoes are saying
Wear on the ball of the
foot Heel tendons may be too tight.
Stretch your calves.
Wear on the inner
sole Feet turn inward on impact (pronate).
Inner liners or
orthotic supports may
help.
Outer sole
wear Feet turn outward on impact
(supinate).
Bulge and wear to the side
of the A too-narrow fit or presence of
big toe a bunion.
Your feet are important!
Take care of them and always check the wear and tear on your shoes.
